This was a wallpaper idea I first had almost two years ago. The text ‘Real Ninjas Wail HARD‘ was inspired by the classic crack website Real Ultimate Power. Anyone who’s been to the website will probably get the reference.
Anyway… at the time, I had just seen this particular scan of Sasuke from the Naruto artbook. I thought combining the two ideas would make for an awesome (and funny) wallpaper, so I set to work. I was perfectly capable of vectoring, but I was also lazy. And that was the wallpaper’s downfall. I ended up producing, a grungy wallpaper that I was never fully happy with.
Fast-forward two years. I still loved the idea of the wallpaper, but not the execution. Being that I was in a graphics-making mood, I opened up Photoshop again and re-did the wallpaper from scratch. This time around I vectored the image, and went for a slightly more muted blue than the one I had chosen the first time. I also chose a larger, neater font (good ‘ol Arial Black), and a better arrangement for the text.
All in all, I think it came together remarkably well for an idea first spawned nearly two years before.
